2012 Convention Schedule Green Party of Ohio
10:00-10:45 Registration & Official Check in
10:30-10:50 Facilitators firm up the agenda & facilitation & timekeepers for the day.
11:00 Convention called to order
11:00-11:10 Meeting process review, introduction of facilitators & timekeepes, agenda review & housekeeping announcements
11:10 -11:25 Introduction of Participants: Go around the room, all participants introduce self:: name, where located (city/districts), what Green Party Committee office(s) they hold &/or are running for including Congress, US Senate or local office.
11:25-11:40 Review of GPO activity & ballot status, question & answer related to party status & write-in process on the Primary Ballots.
11:40 -12:40 Presidential campaign presentations. Each candidate will be given 10 minutes to address the group then will respond to 3 questions. Questions from the audience for the remaining time.
12:40 -12:45 Break & set up for lunch. Lunch will be a potluck. Those attending the convention are asked to bring a dish to share and their own table service, to include plates, cups, napkins and flatware. Don't forget a serving utensil for your dish. There will be coffee and tea and possibly some other beverages but bringing your own (non-alcoholic) beverage is fine too.
12:45-1:30 Lunch & Presidential Candidate Voting (written secret ballot.) Vote closes at 1:30.
1:30 Meeting called back to order
1:30-2:00 U.S. Senate write in Candidates - Joe Rosario DeMare & Anita Rios presentation & discussion (Please note: 500 write in votes are needed to get a US Senate candidate on the Ohio ballot; if both candidates reach the 500 write in point, the highest vote getters will be on the ballot in the 11/6/12 ballot. ) Presentations by the Senate candidates - 3 minutes each candidate to speak & 2 minutes for questions for each candidate. Ten minutes for general discussion & 10 minutes to see if consensus can be reached regarding what the GPO Convention recommends regarding the write in process.
2:00-2:45 Call for proposals, By-laws amendments, Platform additions or revisions, resolutions or proposals to be sponsored for approval of the Green Party National Committee.
All proposals must be submitted in writing. Discussion & vote on individual proposals, questions & concerns addressed & a vote will be taken on each proposal.
2:45-3:00 a) Presentation of information about the national Green Party convention by the current Ohio Representatives. (Please note: A goal of this convention process is to have the Ohio Secretary of State place the Green Party candidate chosen by the national Green Parry Convention on the 11/6/12 election ballot.) b) Agree on instructions to delegates to national convention, c) choose national Green Party convention delegates & d) accept donations from persons willing to help fund the expenses of the Ohio delegates to 2012 Green Party convention.
3:00-3:15 Election of Representatives to the National Green Party Coordinating Committee
- 2 minutes allocated for speach from each person wishing to run for (re-)election, questions & secret ballot voting.
3:15-3:30 Break
3:30 -4:15 Presentation of results from the Presidential candidate vote & announcement of endorsement of Presidential Candidate (voting closed at 1:30) Presentation by winning candidate calling for support, brainstorming and review of campaign strategy.
4:15-5:00 Open discussion of Ohio issues (comments limited to 3 minutes per speaker.)
