1) GREENS CONDEMN VIOLENT ATTACK
***************************************************
9/11/01: The Green Party of the United States con-
demns the violent attacks and mass murder at the
World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and near Pitts-
burgh, Pennsylvania.

Greens offer their sympathy to people affected by
the attacks, especially those injured, and to the
loved ones of people killed or injured.

2) CENTRAL OHIO GREENS ISSUE STATEMENT ON ATTACKS
***************************************************
9/11/01: The Central Ohio Green Party is shocked and
saddened by the deplorable acts of apparent terrorism
which have claimed the lives of untold numbers of
people in the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and
other sites today. We oppose terrorism and violence
in the strongest terms. Whether by individuals, organi-
zations or by states and armies, acts such as this always
victimize the innocent and move us no closer to peaceful
resolutions to the worlds' conflicts. These are crimes
against humanity.

Our sympathies and condolences go out to the families
of people whose lives have been lost or wounded by to-
day's bombings and to the victims of terrorism worldwide.

At times like this, we must rely upon our institutions
for accurate information and rational responsiveness.
We have learned the U.S. military has been placed on
full alert and we are deeply concerned that no actions
be taken by our government that may lead to unwise
military escalation and the sacrificing of more civil-
ian lives anywhere in the world. We urge all in author-
ity to draw upon the deep reserves of strength in the
democratic and legal institutions of the United States
by adhering to the deliberate processes designed to
provide good decisions and appropriate responses.

As the voices calling for retaliation already begin
to be heard, we remind everyone of the legal parameters
set up to govern the use of force and the importance
of working within those parameters.

When the perpetrators of these crimes are identified
and are determined to belong to any particular country
or organization, we urge that any actions taken against
them adhere to all international laws and protocols
and proceed with absolute certainty that no more in-
nocent lives be endangered.

We offer whatever meager help we can, and call upon
all our fellow Americans to provide whatever support
and assistance they can to those in our country in
need of support this dark, dark day.
