and con-

***************************************************
2) U.S. WATER SHORTAGES COMING IN THE NEXT DECADE
***************************************************
Water shortages have been appearing in places that
have never doubted the
future of their supply, like
counties around Lake Michigan, the NY Times reports.
"'In
the next 10 years, the United States will experi-
ence serious water shortages,'
Rebecca Mark, chief
executive officer of Enron's water division, Azurix,
told business leaders in Texas two years ago as she
outlined plans to lay
a claim to a global industry
worth about $400 billion."

read the article "Near Vast Bodies of Water, Land
Lies Parched"
in the Aug. 12 NY Times, see:

***************************************************
3) ICELAND'S VISIONARY ENERGY POLICY
***************************************************
Iceland intends to be the world's first hydrogen-
based economy, eliminating
fossil fuels and the
greenhouse gas emissions they produce.

***************************************************
4) MINUTES FROM ASGP MEETING JULY 28-29, 2001

Green Parties (ASGP) meeting

5) NATIONAL GREEN PARTY SEEKS FUNDRAISER
***************************************************
The Green Party is seeking a full-time fundraiser to

involve extensive telephone contacts of prospects
to
increase the base of donors and planning fundraising
events. Some travel
will also be required. Applicants
must have extensive fundraising experience
and Green
values. Salary plus benefits. Send resume to The Green
Party,

6) WHY AMERICANS WILL BELIEVE ALMOST ANYTHING
***************************************************
Corporations control the media and thus the percep-
tion of Americans. "The
Doors of Perception: Why
Americans Will Believe Almost Anything" by Dr.
Tim
O'Shea gives the history of this corporate media
control and explains
how well it has worked especi-
ally in nutrition and medicine.

***************************************************
7) THE AUSTRALIAN: U.S. ADMITS LOSING NUKE
***************************************************
A nuclear bomb 100 times more powerful than the one
dropped on Hiroshima sits
off the coast of North
Carolina. It has never been found after it was
ordered dropped when the plane that was carrying it
had to make an emergency
landing.

about a new candidate endorsed
by the Green Party
of Southeastern Ohio
1.
The candidate is Paul Wiehl (not "Weihl').
2. Mr. Wiehl is running as
an Independent, not a
Green, endorsed by the Green Party of Southeastern
Ohio.
3. Mr. Wiehl is running for an at-large seat, not a
Ward 1 seat,
on the Athens City Council.
