1) GREEN PARTY NEWS CONFERENCE NOW SUN., AUG. 5
***************************************************
The press conference announcing the formation of the
Green Party of the United
States held at the Green
Party office in Santa Monica, CA, on July 30 may
now
be broadcast on C-SPAN this Sun., Aug. 5 instead of
later today as
announced in a Green Party of Ohio
Special Alert issued two days ago.
The
times and length of coverage of the 55-minute
event keep changing however.
As of yesterday the news
conference was to have been shown on "American
Politics"
for about 30 minutes. "American Politics" was to
have
started at 6:30 PM EST with the Green Party (GP) sec-
tion at 7:58
PM EST. Then it was to have been repeated
at 9:30 PM EST with the GP section
starting at
10:28 PM EST.
However,
it now appears that only a 10-minute segment
will be aired at 4:50 PM EST,
but it is presently
scheduled simultaneously with two other events so times
may change yet again. Be sure to check back with C-SPAN
for last minute changes
at http://www.c-span.org.
The
GP news conference may also be rebroadcast on
C-SPAN at a later date. Continue
to check the C-SPAN
schedules online.
The
press conference consisted of a four-person panel
presentation followed by
questions and answers from
the press and then statements from several other
Greens
in attendance as resource people.
Anita
Rios of Toledo is a member of the Steering
Committee of the Green Party of
the United States.

will make a positive difference
in the lives of
average people,' [Santa Monica CA] Mayor Feinstein
said.
'We are working for universal health care
coverage, a living wage, a safe
and healthy environ-
ment, an end to the inhumane and racist death penalty
and war on drugs, and reforms to put power back into
the hands of the people
-- the issues Americans care
most about.'"

now faces a choice about how far we want
to go down the road to being a surveillance
society,'
said Jeffrey Rosen, a law professor at George

investigation has found."
