1) ASGP FILING WITH FEC
***************************************************
At the annual meeting of the Association of State
Green Parties (ASGP) in
Santa Barbara CA on July 27
and 28, the ASGP will vote on whether to form
the
national Green Party of the United States and file
with the Federal
Election Commission (FEC) as the
National Committee of the Green Party. Under
FEC
rules, the national committee is the organization
which oversees the
day-to-day affairs of the Green
Party at the national level.
ASGP
policy requires that the contents of the filing
be made public for 30 days
prior to filing with the
FEC so that all Greens can examine it to ensure
accuracy. If the ASGP Coordinating Committee approves
the filing later this
month, it is anticipated that
the filing will be made in August and a response
received in October.
To
review documents to be filed, visit:

2) NO TO FAST TRACK
***************************************************
This Tuesday (July 17) numbers of union members,
environmentalists, and others
opposed to the current
World Trade Organization (WTO), Free Trade Agreement
of the Americas (FTAA), etc. will be calling their
Congressional representatives
urging them to SAY NO
TO FAST TRACK! trade negotiating authority for the
President of the United States. A toll-free number
has been set up by our
union friends for your con-
venience. Get ready to call on Tuesday! Tell your
Congressional representative to SAY NO TO FAST TRACK!
The number (800-393-1802)
doesn't work yet, but will
be active Tuesday.

6) GREEN PARTY HELPS DEFEAT KENT MALL DEVELOPMENT
***************************************************
Kent residents beat back a proposed shopping mall on
the edge of town, declaring
victory for now in their
battle with a Texas millionaire. The Portage Green
Party was active on the issue and campaigned heavily
against the project.
Patti Fridrich, Green Party can-
didate for City Council, worked hard to coordinate
media coverage of the shopping mall protests.
