2) FRIDRICH BECOMES FIRST WOMAN GREEN CANDIDATE
***************************************************
Kent resident Patricia Fridrich filed petitions
May 7 with the Portage County
Board of Elections as
an Independent for a Kent City Council at-large seat.
She will face three Democrats, two Republicans and
an Independent in the November
6 general election.
Fridrich,
with a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling,
is the first woman Green Party
candidate in Ohio.
Fridrich's issues for her campaign for city council
include: encouraging citizen involvement in city
government and city planning,
and responding to citizen
concerns; supporting local businesses and preventing
"urban sprawl" while focusing on sustainable, ecologi-
cally sound
economic development; supporting a viable
working arts community in downtown
Kent that would
increase revenue to the city and revitalize the down-
town and West River Neighborhoods; preserving green
space, parks and recreation,
and natural resources in
Kent; creating a working relationship between Kent
State University and the city of Kent; and revitali-
zing housing and encouraging
neighborhood improvements.

Ohio continues. Our goal
is to get 80,000 signatures

by then will enable the party to be officially recog-
nized by the State of
Ohio and entitle us to hold
primaries in May 2002.
If
you are not yet helping with our effort, but
would like to do so, please get
more information at
http://www.ohiogreens.org/petition within a few days.
