OH Green Party Candidates Promise to Confront Great Moral Issues for Ohio

Columbus, Ohio-The Ohio Green Party voted to endorse a slate of candidates for statewide offices during the Ohio Green Party convention Saturday in Columbus.

Bob Fitrakis and Anita Rios were endorsed for Governor/Lt governor.

Tim Kettler was endorsed for Secretary of State.

Donald Lesiak was endorsed for Auditor.

David Kovacs was endorsed for region 7 State School Board.

Bob Fitrakis is an attorney, an award winning journalist and a professor of political science. He earned his law degree at the Ohio State University Moritz School of Law and his Phd in Political Science from Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan.

Anita Rios is a longtime union activist and community organizer with a background in mental health. Anita is the former chair of the Green Party National Committee. She grew up one of eight children to parents who were Mexican American migrant farm workers.

Fitrakis received a thundering approval as he outlined his vision for Ohio. The Green Party offers a true alternative to the corporate influenced two party system, he said. " We want to tell our children and grandchildren that we were the ones who fought for sustainability against the fossil fuel economy, we stood up and took to the streets over verifiable elections, and we promoted real solutions when faced with global warming."

Tim Kettler a small businessman from Cochocton was endorsed for Secretary of State. He is a litigant in the 2004 election recount, and emphasized voting rights, clean elections and corporate accountability. He said, “Ohio cannot bear another rigged vote. We need real reforms.” These reforms include inclusion of more voters, expanding representation in political processes, and transparency in voting procedures.

Donald Lesiak from Parma was endorsed for Auditor. He is a former state auditor and engineer. He is also a former auditor with the Department of Defense who worked to solve the procurement problems of the $400 hammers. He will bring the same wisdom to auditing Ohio’s expenditures.

David Kovacs from Akron was endorsed for region 7 State School Board. He is a graduate student at the university of Akron who advocates for accurate science orientation in the state school curriculum.
