Green Party Of Ohio Selects Presidential
Candidate at Ohio Convention

Presidential candidate David Cobb was endorsed as the leading Green for the Presidential nomination at the Ohio Green Party convention on January 31, 2004.
Candidate David Cobb received 39% of the votes,
Lorna Salzman received 13.5%,
while write in Peter Cameo received 21%.
Candidates Paul Glover and Kent Mesplay, along with write-ins, including Ralph Nader, received single digit percentages.

Primary Results
David Cobb, 39.3%, 9 of 23 Delegates
Peter Camejo, 21.3%, 5 Delegates
Lorna Salzman, 13.5%, 3 Delegates
Ralph Nader, 6.7%, 2 Delegates
Paul Glover, 4.5%, 1 Delegate
Kent Mesplay, 3.4%, 1 Delegate
Dennis Kucinich, 2.2%, 1 Delegate
None of the Above, 4.5%, 1 Delegate

Votes of the 23 delegates at the national convention in Milwaukee June 23-28 will be proportionally cast to reflect these results. In addition, votes for candidates were cast using ranked choice, so that an overall winner could be determined. David Cobb was also the overall winner when secondary preferences were counted. Green Party members gathered to hear from Green candidates for President David Cobb and Kent Mesplay and Ohio candidatures. They also selected delegates to the National Green Party Convention. The primary results will provide guidance to delegates who will attend the national Green Party of the United States convention in Milwaukee June 23-28, 2004.


At this convention, registered members of the Green Party of Ohio planned further
growth and development of the Ohio Green Party and provided guidance for
the State Coordinating Committee. They also approved a proposal calling for “Formation of International War Crimes Tribunal to Investigate Bush Administration.” This is available at www.ohiogreens.org/war_crimes_proposal.html.


”The party is still looking for people to run for the US Congress, state, and local
offices as Green Party candidates,” said Logan Martinez, Chair of the GPO Candidates Committee. He encourages people who want to run with Green Party support to contact him at loganmartinez(at)hotmail.com. Green Party candidates will officially run as independents and they have until March 2nd to file petitions with their local boards of election.
